Calf Creek canyon along highly scenic Utah Highway 12 between Boulder and Torrey is a veritable oasis amidst an expansive slickrock desert. Calf Creek has two waterfalls, upper and lower Calf Creek falls. The upper falls is much shorter and enclosed than lower falls, but much less visited also. The pool and walls of the upper falls are quiet and intimate, the route there short, but very steep. Alternatively, the lower falls have far more visitation because of its spectacular height and virtually flat hike in. Both falls support lush riparian environments, areas of striking green amid miles of barren slickrock in all directions.
