Queen Of The Wash

The “Queen of the Wash” is a large badlands formation in the Bentonite Hills region just outside of Capitol Reef National Park. This stunning badlands formation has been created through eons of water erosion from violent flash floods, revealing the multitude of colorful clay layers present in the surrounding area in one vibrant formation. These same clay layers make travel in this area impossible after a heavy rain, the soil becomes so slippery it is impassable for four-wheel vehicles and even walking is a practice in futility.
