Hamburger Rocks

The seldom-visited Hamburger Rocks are the very last small remnants of the red silty Kayenta sandstone layer eroded away, with the surrounding white Navajo sandstone layer exposed underneath. The result of the staggered erosion is the signature “hamburger rocks”, which are technically very short, squat hoodoos. The visual effect of this is striking and when added to the slant of the Navajo layer makes for a very photogenic spot above Hall’s Canyon.
