glacier-montana-flinsch-two-medicine-1920Rising Wolf is the largest peak in the Two Medicine area at 9,513 feet and dominates the scenery on the drive into Two Medicine. Rising Wolf was the Blackfeet given name for early frontiersman Hugh Monroe, who lived amongst the Blackfeet for most of his life. Nearby Sinopah Mountain was named after his wife and Lone Walker Mountain was named after his father-in-law. The Blackfeet name Mahkuyi-opuahsin is literally translated into English as “the way the wolf gets up”.
