Swiftcurrent Pass is the climax of Glacier’s most famous hike, the Highline Trail. Most hikers begin at Logan Pass, crossing over the continental divide above Granite Park chalet to finish at Swiftcurrent Motor Lodge. The chain of lakes in the picture includes Bullhead Lake, Red Rock Lake, Fishercap Lake, Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Sherburne (actually a reservoir).
Just north of Swiftcurrent Pass stands Swiftcurrent Mountain and at the very summit lies Swiftcurrent Fire Lookout, one of only four lookouts that is still manned in the modern day. The small, two story building (which lies directly on top of the Continental Divide) was named to the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
