Upper Morning Star Lake

Upper Morning Star Lake on the side of Medicine Grizzly Peak

The name of this lake is unofficial, taken from the lake below this high basin lake (Morning Star Lake). Directly below the continental divide and Medicine Grizzly Peak, this basin and lake typify the characteristic hanging basins which can be found throughout Glacier National Park. The Morning Star was a prominent figure in Blackfeet mythology and was most likely Venus, Mars and Jupiter, depending on the time of the year it was seen.
