Bishop Pass

Bishop Pass

The Bishop Pass Trail starts on its east end at South Lake near Bishop, California. The popular hike leads past a stunning row of alpine lakes, most of which are excellent fishing spots. The trail gradually gains elevation, culminating at Bishop Pass along the Sierra Crest, where the John Muir Wilderness and Kings Canyon National Park share a border. The trailhead starts at 9,800 feet and Bishop Pass sits just below 12,000 feet, so plenty of hydration and a day or two of previous acclimatization are recommended.
