The Artist’s Drive takes the driver to what could be confused with a different planet. Drivers effectively drive on a paved road inside of extensive badlands carved out of several differently-colored layers of volcanic ashes. Years of erosion from flash floods have exposed the brightly colored soils on hillsides and gullies. The spectrum of colors is reminiscent of an artist’s palette, hence the name of the most famous drainage along the drive.
